NBC Renews Grimm for Season 2

NBC has renewed Grimm for a second season, TVGuide.com has confirmed. The news was first reported by TVLine.

The fantasy drama stars David Giuntoli as a homicide detective who discovers he’s a descendent of a long line of hunters who fight supernatural forces.

Grimm debuted in October to 6.5 million viewers and a 2.1 in the adults-18-to-49 demographic  and has remained a solid performer by Friday night standards. Its most recent airing grabbed 5.2 million total viewers and a 1.5 demo rating.

The renewal marks NBC’s first pickup for next season. Grimm‘s relative success also stands in contrast to such other NBC freshmen series as The Playboy ClubPrime Suspect, and The Firm, all of which floundered quickly.
